Mother London Website

www.motherlondon.com

Is an amazing website. perhaps a bit pretentious in that it doesn't exhibit their work but in it's design gives with agency a very special identity which is definately worth mentioning when I am currently doing something similar for design identity.

the website is of the building/ offices of mother. and is just an interective way of looking into the building, ie, photographs of the POV and the profiles of the designers that you see int eh picture. I can't explain it, just have a look.

Brnadon Kauffman

Brandon is a designer and painter. Upon receiving an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Delaware College of Art and Design, Brandon concluded his undergraduate studies at the Rhode Island School of Design, earning a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. While studying in Basel, Switzerland, he became rooted in a process-oriented design methodology. After graduation, he focused on developing a New York area graphic design firm, becoming the first hire of a small international agency.

This piece is one of those pieces that makes you wish you'd thought of it first. The Holy bible, with the cross... taking a simple, timeless graphic image and even simplifying it even more. Genius.

Hatch show Print

I've just been reading about a letterpress printing company in America called Hatch. Its really inspiring how after 300 years of the print shop being open that they are stilling working for show promotions for concerts or general shows. And to still use the same techniques because of the quality that you get from hand-crafting print. You can see the quality that their work turns out in and would still look more fantastic as time goes on, as the paper dries out and the ink begins to fade. Something that modern day printing cannot replicate.

Not only that, their ability to select type faces, layout work to set frames, ignoring the capabilities of the computer. Although they do state that they use computers as an initial idea tool, but prefer to do things traditionally just seems really great.

They work along with artists like Kings of Leon, The Strokes as modern examples, yet have worked with Johnny Cash and the likes of Elvis Costello. Its just great how most print companies would have turned over from the invention of technology, yet these guys are still going and being recognized and appreciated for what they do.

I may look into doing something like this in the future.
